Shelley Johnson is a highly experienced Senior Public Outreach and Communications Specialist, boasting more than 15 years of remarkable contributions to the transportation sector, working with transportation agencies such as MCDOT, WMATA, DDOT, MDOT, SHA, VDOT, and NVTA.
Her expertise lies in developing strategies that engage and resonate with diverse audiences on a wide spectrum of transportation issues, policies, and programs. Shelley’s career exemplifies a commitment to creating and implementing innovative outreach approaches that deliver results, making complex technical information accessible to a broad range of audience types.
Her track record mirrors our core principles, focusing on community-centered inclusivity, collaborative innovation, and cultural respect, which contribute to lasting, positive legacies in the communities she serves.
In addition to her role with us, Shelley is an active board member of the Women’s Transportation Seminar (WTS-DC) and a dedicated member of the Conference of Minority Transportation Officials (COMTO-DC).
Shelley has been involved in various impactful projects, such as Vision Zero, Bike & Ped Safety, Corridor Studies, Citywide Transportation Plans, Green Infrastructure, Environmental Analysis (NEPA), and Transit Education.
